TMJ

TMJ

A large portion of the US population will have pain related to the TMJ or jaw joint that contribute to temporal-mandibular disorders (TMD).

Symptoms of TMD include:

  • Jaw pain
  • Headaches
  • Ear pain
  • Tooth pain
  • Face pain
  • Neck pain
  • Pain with chewing
  • Clicking, popping, and grinding sounds with jaw opening and/or closing
  • Limited jaw opening
  • Jaw locking open and/or closed

Physical therapy is a recognized effective and conservative treatment for TMD. We will work with your dentist, orthodontist, and medical provider to help improve your pain and function.

The physical therapists at Foundational Concepts treat the whole person. As we have treated our patients over the years, we have found that many people we are treating for pelvic floor dysfunctions, such as constipation and pelvic pain, also struggle with TMD. We strive to treat the whole person when we look at our patients and we look forward to assisting you in reclaiming your life and looking at a prevention plan for the future.
